A Divine Purpose: Get the Job Done
Talicia started with Leadpoint as a sorter and rose rapidly in the company. After 60 days she worked up to Line Lead, 8 months later became the site’s Contingent Workforce Coordinator, and 9 months after that was named Onsite Manager. Part of her success comes from her experience as a custodian supervisor with the local school district and her own cleaning service. “Cleaning up trash is therapy for me,” she said. “I’ve always liked to clean since I was a little girl.”
But there’s more to it than that. Talicia explains, “I’m a dedicated hard work with a divine purpose to get the job done.”
Talicia has a mindset of success. “It’s not easy being a sorter, but I came to work every day determined and wanting to grow,” she said, “and that’s why I was able to move up so fast.” Now, as the Onsite Manager, she inspires that same “get the job done” attitude with her team and with Leadpoint’s customer.
She made a point to talk to her team about what they want, what they are looking for, and things began to change. Production quality is an example. “I worked with the sorters to make sure they were able to hit our quality goals,” Talicia said. “We worked on little stuff, like catching a situation that could cause a jam before it happened and putting the right people in the right place,” she said.
Talicia tries to give a little time each day to the team on all 3 shifts to make sure the job gets done. “A good leader should lead from the front of the line, even on the difficult days,” she said. She recalled a specific tough day. “One of my sorters said, ‘I was about to walk off the job but when I saw you come on the line and work with us, it made me stay.’,” Talicia said. “That made me proud.”
