2019: The Year in Review — Thoughts from Leadpoint President & CEO Frank Ramirez

PHOENIX (Dec. 16, 2019) — 2019 has been a successful year for everyone at Leadpoint, thanks to our customers like you. We appreciate your confidence in Leadpoint and our high-performance work teams.

The story of the year is growth. We added new recycling sites in 2019 and expanded further into the Southeast and Midwest.

We also invested in our onsite managers and administrators who lead our teams and collaborate with your managers. These hard-working men and women are the backbone of our business model. Our OSM team is made of up 29 managers. 15 of them started as sorters, operators or line leads; eight of them were promoted into their manager roles this year. Their tenure commitment to your success is a hallmark of our service promise.

As we’ve grown, more people have become interested in a career with Leadpoint. This year, over 30,000 people applied to work with us.  Just over 8,000 of them were interviewed for positions at plants like yours and less than 2,500 were hired. It’s not easy to become a Leadpoint employee, which is a point of pride for our organization. Applicants go through our top-grading process, which includes a safety orientation and an opportunity to try the work so they can make an informed decision before accepting the job. We bring candidates into the MRF where they are exposed to the smells, temperatures and environmental realities of the job. They even work on the sort line for a few minutes. We believe this investment in the hiring process is worth it – it results in lower turnover and a safer team overall.

As of this month, Leadpoint has 47 sorters who have been with us for 10 years or more. That tenure confirms that we provide long-term careers to our employees and workforce stability to our customers.

The other news as we wrap-up the year is Leadpoint’s investment in technology. We’ve incorporated wage analyses, in-depth business reviews, and enhanced data tools into our services…all in the interest of making your work life easier and your workforce more productive.
